I qualified from Cambridge University in 2006, and since then have worked in small animal and mixed animal practices in both Cambridge and Bedford

I have a keen interest in exotic animal medicine (everything from a hamster to a chicken to a Harris hawk and more!) and gained an RCVS certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in 2024.

At home I live with my husband and our 4 cats an owl, and chickens. In my free time I enjoy yoga, ice hockey and enjoy knitting and gardening.

I am a laboratory chemist by training and have spent 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, working with both human and animal medicines. It has been a long term goal for Jo and I to open our own Veterinary practice and we have achieved that with Companion Care Bedford.

You can see our menagerie in Jo’s info above and I have been a keen falconer since we got our Harris Hawk Aragorn. We love winter sports and enjoy cross country skiing and watching biathlon.

Keyhole Surgery

We are very proud to be able to offer keyhole surgery!

Keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery is minimally invasive surgery which involves passing a camera and specialised instruments through small (0.3-1cm) incisions in the body wall, to perform surgical procedures.

You may be aware of the many advantages of keyhole surgery for humans, and the same is true for our pets.

What are the advantages of keyhole surgery?

  • Less pain after the operation
  • Smaller incisions
  • Faster healing time
  • Fewer post-operative complications
  • No stitches in the skin – usually no need for a buster collar
  • Rest is usually only required for 2-3 days after the procedure
  • Clearer and safer view for the surgeon

There are many surgical and diagnostic procedures we can perform using the specialised equipment and training we have. The most common is keyhole spaying (laparoscopic ovariectomy).

To book an appointment, or for further advice on keyhole procedures, please call us at the practice.
