Meet the team

Dr Cormac Higgins
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
MVB GP(Cert)Endo MRCVS
From Longford in Ireland, I qualified at University College Dublin. Moving to England I opened the Companion Care Surgery in Ashford in 2007. My particular interest is internal medicine.
I have a rescue cat from Gibraltar called Bambino who very much makes himself at home whenever he visits the surgery, and a naughty little schnauzer crossed border terrier named Raya who comes to work every day and keeps us all busy with her cheeky antics.

Dr Carole Debomy
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVS

I joined the practice in 2018, after qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College the year before. I enjoy both surgical and medical cases and, although I hope to specialise one day, I'm very happy at the moment doing a bit of everything.
Although I don't currently have any pets of my own, I did grow up in a house full of assorted creatures.

Dr Emily O'Connell
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVS

I first qualified in 2000 whilst working at Eton Veterinary hospital and attending the Royal Veterinary College in London. After working as an RVN for a year I began working as an emergency night nurse at the Blue Cross in Merton, London.
I then moved back to day work at Meopham Vets where I was a theatre nurse and gained my A1 assessor qualification. I then moved to Newnham Court Vet Hospital where I was able to continue my teaching and gained my SQP qualification.
I enjoy all aspects of my job, but I particularly enjoy theatre and hope to gain a certificate in anaesthesia in the future.
I have 2 children and several pets including cats, dogs, ferrets and rabbits.

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2014 working in a veterinary hospital and started working at Companion Care Ashford in 2015. I have a particular interest in in inpatient care and nutrition and have recently completed my Diploma in canine and feline Nutrition.
I have a cat called Elvis but my favourite pet has to be Dachshunds and I hope to be getting one in the future.

I qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2015 and previously have worked in exotic and orthopaedic referral practice. I joined the Companion Care team in 2017.
I enjoy all aspects of nursing, but I have a passion for everything feline related! I am currently studying the Foundation Diploma in Feline Nursing with ISFM.
Outside of work, I love to snuggle with my cat called April, who I rescued as a stray. She has one eye, is super cute and definitely keeps me on my toes!

More info to come!

I joined the Companion Care team as a student veterinary nurse in 2014 and completed my degree and qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2016.
My particular interests include the medical nursing of patients and laboratory diagnostics.
Outside of work, I love to spend quality time with my pets and dabble in amateur photography

Karys McGrattan
Student Veterinary Nurse

I have been working as a veterinary nurse since 2001, working in a large mixed hospital practice, another small-animal practice, which also included opening a brand new surgery, and then came to Ashford in 2011 to be head nurse for Companion Care. In 2015, I completed my certificate in leadership and management and have taken the role of practice manager for the Ashford, Folkestone and Dover surgeries.
My personal interests within nursing involve nutrition, laboratory work, radiography and physiotherapy.
Since my role has changed within the team, I am excited about the new challenges it will bring and different aspects of which I can focus my attention on. I will regularly be based at the other surgeries, and I look forward to meeting all the customers and their pets.
I have a naughty 18 month old Border Jack who regularly comes to the practice with me and is regularly entertaining us with his antics in the office.

Started working for companion care in 2011 after being a hairdressers receptionist. I have Koi carp and pond fish and often babysit Binx, my daughter’s cat.

I joined the team in July 2016. After coming from a business and administration background, it was a new and exciting adventure for me to work in the veterinary world.
I worked as a health advisor for NHS for a period of time before joining the team and the experience I gained there has really helped me with my current role as Client Care Advisor, especially with prioritizing appointments.
I have two cats, an elderly gentleman of 13 called Merlin and a spirited 4 year old called Khai who I adore. I love customer service and enjoy meeting new people and their furry family. I recently completed my training and examinations, so I am now also a qualified SQP.
