Exeter Companion Care Chris Eiermann

Chris Eiermann MRCVS

Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

A graduate from University Utrecht in 1997, I have over 18 years’ veterinary experience. I came over to the UK and have worked all over the country including a small animal practice in Suffolk and emergency clinics in Brighton and Wimbledon. I was delighted to become partner at Companion Care Exeter in 2004. I am able to treat pets that visit Pets at Home Exeter and Exmouth. I’m particularly interested in surgery and orthopaedics, birds and exotic pets. I have two naughty guinea fowl and a cat called Otto. In my spare time I enjoy sports, travelling and exploring the countryside.

Clare Wannell RVN A1

Joint Venture Partner and Head Veterinary Nurse

Clare has 20 years experience as a veterinary nurse and qualified in 2000. She has been Head Veterinary Nurse at the surgery since 2006 and also became a partner at the practice in April 2011. Clare oversees the day to day running of the practice and enjoys medical nursing and preventative healthcare. Clare is also responsible for the training and development of the student nurses. At home she has a cat called Mewmin, a Senegal parrot called Billy, and a Patterdale Terrier called Charlie. Outside of work, Clare enjoys travel, the theatre and crafts.

Bronwen Gill BSc BVMS MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Bronwen qualified from Murdoch University in Western Australia in 2001. She worked in mixed practice for three years and then spent four years in Greece doing sea turtle conservation. She holds a postgraduate certificate in conservation medicine. Bronwen enjoys medicine and dentistry. Bronwen's pets include a cockatiel called Graham, two chickens and a rooster called Gilbert. In her spare time Bronwen, likes hiking, yoga and the theatre. 


Exeter Companion Care Mark Bingham

Mark Bingham BSc BVM&S MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Mark graduated in Edinburgh in 2005 and worked in mixed practice for two years before joining a small animal practice in 2007. Mark enjoys medicine and is working towards a certificate in advanced veterinary practice. At home he has two dogs that enjoy Devon life of walks on the beach and the moors.

Jenna Holly 

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Jenna joined the team in 2017, having qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2006. She joined us after working in first opinion and referral hospital in Bristol. She enjoys theatre and surgery, and has an interest in dog behaviour and dental care. She has two Rottweiler's, Roo and rescue dog Rocco and a little rescue terrier called Harvey.

Amanda Rice

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Amanda joined us in 2016 and has qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2017. Amanda particularly enjoys working on preventive healthcare with pets and owners. Amanda owns two lovely flat coated retrievers, Harley and Benji, and in her spare time enjoys cycling, running and going to the gym.

Jenny Frayne ANA

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Jenny joined the team in 2013. She left office work to pursue her dream of working with animals. Jenny has experience working for the RSPCA and has worked with a lion breeding project in Africa. In 2017 she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse. In her spare time Jenny enjoys socialising and travelling.

Laura Jackson

Student Veterinary Nurse

Laura Joined the team in 2015 as an Animal Care Assistant supporting the nursing team with their daily duties. Laura is currently training as a Student Veterinary Nurse . At home Laura enjoys walking with her Cocker Spaniel, Buck.

VCA Veterinary Care Assistant

Sophie joined the team 2016 and works supporting the nursing team with their daily duties. Sophie aspires to be a qualified veterinary nurse one day. In her spare time Sophie enjoys socialising, going to the gym, walking the family dogs Martha and Millie and collecting cacti.

Practice Manager

Steve joined the surgery in 2015 as Practice Manager. Steve spent a large part of his career working for the PDSA Veterinary Charity. In his spare time, Steve enjoys watching Rugby and spending time with his rescue Greyhounds Eddie & Murphy.

Cathrin Walsh

Head Receptionist

Cathrin joined the team as Head Receptionist in December 2015 after transferring to us from Pets at Home where she was Deputy Manager. She has two cats called Adara and Figaro and two rescue guinea pigs. In her spare time Cathrin enjoys reading, walking along Dartmoor and kayaking.

Sam Cox


Sam has returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child Jamie. Sam is happiest on Reception as she loves interacting with both owners and their pets! She has a special interest in rabbits after owning several French Lops over the years.

Nadia Ahmed

Nicky Kerswell


Nicky has been with Companion Care since May 2010. Her background is in managing pubs and restaurants. She rehomed a stray cat that was brought into the surgery, needing a home which is now called Button. Her hobbies include swimming, DIY and gardening.

Fern Halliday


Fern gained a foundation degree in Animal Science, Welfare and Behaviour before working for Pets at Home Stores for over three years and then joined us as a receptionist in 2016. She enjoys reading, going to the gym and spending time outdoors.

Nicola joined 2013 to cover maternity leave and ended up becoming a permanent member.
Completed a HND in Animal Nursing and Management at Bicton College in partnership with University of Plymouth. Lives in Exeter with partner and daughter and Leopard Gecko called Mushu.

Gillian Howatson


Gill joined the team in 2017, having previously working as a veterinary receptionist in Bristol and Kilmanock. She has always been surrounded by animals having owned, bred, shown and judged Labradors, as well as having owned a boarding kennel and cattery. She spends most of her free time with her three fur babies, Dora the Boxer, Murry James Jnr an American Cocker and Freeda the rescue cat.
