Veterinary Surgeon
Main purpose of job
Assist the Partners with the day to day organisation of the practice with emphasis on providing a professional service to the clients and their pets.
Key Responsibilities
• Operation and interrogation of in-practice database system producing timely reports and rotas, general surgery administration.
• Management of the surgery, adhering to health and safety guidelines to minimise personal risk to those in the Veterinary environment.
• Carry out consultations with the ability to determine specific problems, showing empathy towards the clients and their pet’s problem.
• Conduct thorough examinations of all patients.
• Read and interpret and evaluate findings from diagnostic testing tools/techniques.
• Diagnose and formulate a targeted relevant treatment plan showing an understanding of contributing factors.
• Confidently and appropriately deal with emergency presentations.
• Perform all routine surgical procedures within small animal practice.
• Perform euthanasia, at all times showing empathy whilst maintaining professional detachment.
• Demonstrate a good use of knowledge of husbandry and welfare of animals, on a day to day basis.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Degree in BVSc
• RCVS Membership
• Experience in a range of small animal procedures
• Management of small groups of staff
• Microsoft Word & Excel, Outlook
