Tanya Crawley MRCVS Joint Venture Partner Swindon Veterinary Surgery

I qualified from Liverpool University in 2001.  In the middle of my veterinary degree I pursued an intercalated degree in Zoology, for which I achieved Class I Honours. During my time at university I met my husband, Dan, we acquired a mouse, then we rescued 2 kittens, and then we rescued a puppy, who we called Bean. She is now 11 years old.
We decided that the pets, as wonderful as they were, were surrogate children, so in 2003 we started a family!  We have a 7 year old son called Kiran, and a 5 year old daughter called Maya. This has not, however, stopped us from acquiring more animals in need of homes – we have since adopted a one-eyed hamster, some chickens and a rat!
I enjoy all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery and I have a particular interest in small mammals and reptiles.  I also especially enjoy meeting owners and their pets and I very much look forward to seeing you soon.
In my spare time I thoroughly enjoy being with my family and pets. I have a real passion for cooking and also for eating! I am a member of the local netball team and I love to read books.

Receptionist

I have been with Companion Care since the surgery opened but have had no veterinary experience previously. I really enjoy my job as I get to meet all the pets and owners which I really love.
It has been a challenging but rewarding  as every day is different and I like to help owners and pets as best as I can.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling and walking. I have no animals at the moment but I think the temptation will probably be too much in the end!

Sian Gannon
Receptionist

Sian is 18 and has a love of animals from when she was little.  She loves her job as she gets to mix receptionist work with animals – the perfect combination in her eyes.  She has two Weimaraners at home; Shadow and Bramble, who are both 8.  Bramble was rescued from Battersea dog home 4 years ago.  Sian plans to go to university to study towards becoming a paediatric nurse for cardiac patients. In her spare time Sian loves to travel and experience as much as possible.  When she is not studying or working Sian is regularly seen performing in plays for local performing arts schools.

I have recently joined the Companion Care team and I love it! I finished college in Winchester in 2010 and took a gap year to go travelling. I love working with animals, and get to see them everyday working here. I have always owned cats and feel very passionately about animal welfare and safety, so I feel like working here allows me to help look after animals that need it. I also get to see all the puppies and kittens that are brought in so that's an added bonus! I don't own any pets at the moment but I am currently fostering a cat until he finds a home somewhere permanent, and I'm very much enjoying having a cat around the house again!
