Maria Del Carme Tordesillas-Olivar
Veterinary Surgeon

Maria Del Carme Tordesilla-Olivar Veterinary Surgeon Companion Care Speke
After graduating as a Veterinary Surgeon from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) I was accepted for a position on the Post Graduate internship program of the University Hospital.  During the internship I spent 18 months furthering my practical knowledge and gaining a wide range of experience whilst working as a clinician along side the University veterinary specialists.

After my internship I joined Northwest Surgeons in the UK where I developed my surgical skills and of course my English (which is still spoken with a strong Spanish accent!).

I joined Companion Care in July 2011.  I really love the professionalism of the practice, and the friendliness of the staff and customers.

Do I miss Barcelona? Of course, I do miss my family and my Jack Russell (called “Taxi”).  And the weather in the UK isn’t quite as sunny as I’m used to.  But I love living in the UK and am really happy to be working here.

Rebecca Evans
Nurse Assistant

My name is Becci and I have been working here since August. I came to Companion Care after previously working for Pets At Home. I bring with me two years experience working in the veterinary industry and a National Diploma in Animal Management. I have also gained four years experience in customer service and I am confident in talking to clients and helping them in every way that I can.
As well as that I bring with me a great interest and passion for animals as I have a number of animals myself! I have Jacob who is a thirteen year old Bassett Hound cross and he is the love of my life! I rescued him from Dogs Trust three years ago as I thought his age would go against him finding a new home and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I also have a Blue-Fronted Amazon Parrot called George and he is also a rescue. He is from Birdline and he was donated to them because his owners could no longer look after him. George is also thirteen years old and he is the funniest pet I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Rabbits are an animal that I have great interest in and I own five rabbits. There is Rufus who is a British Giant, I am unsure of his age as he was found on a tip! There is also Princess Boo Boo is an Angora rabbit and I also have Toby, Daisy and Dotty who are all cross-breeds. As well as the rabbit I have three guinea pigs which are rescue. I rescued Hilda who is approximately two years old and when I took her home she produced three lovely babies. I have kept the girls who are now called Betty and Flo and she also had one male who I had to re-home.
My animal interests do particularly lie with rabbit and if you need any help or advice then you can just call the veterinary surgery and I will be here to help!

Samantha Bennett Vet Receptionist Companion Care Vets Speke

My name is Sam and I have worked at our brand new Companion Care in Speke since it opened in March 2010.  I am degree educated and with me I have brought 11 years of customer service experience, which I have been fortunate to acquire in both the manufacturing and retail industries.
I enjoy meeting new and interesting people and my aim is to always provide excellent, first-rate customer focused service with a smile.
I am naturally enthusiastic, with a caring and compassionate nature, which reflects in my front of house duties.
Animals are an important part of my life as I continue to support the important fund-raising and charity work of the PDSA, along with the other charities that I support, which include the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research.  I donate and purchase to these charities on a regular basis.
I have a black and white, eight year old cat called Millie, who I found at only 4 weeks old on bonfire night.  She is the original “scaredy-cat” that she was when I found her.  I spoil her rotten with anything sparkly and pink!  I also have a grey and white first cross Bedlington/Whippet Lurcher called Bobby, who is from the same bloodlines as the first ‘Alfred’ from Yorkshire Television’s Heartbeat series.  Bobby is eight years old and looks like a little old man!
In my spare time I like to use my artistic talents by designing and creating hair fascinators and greeting cards.
