Senior Veterinary Nurse
Main purpose of job
Assist the Partners with the day to day organisation of the practice with emphasis on providing a professional service to the clients and their pets and assist in maximising turnover and profitability of the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain product knowledge and be able to advise where necessary.
• Preparation of paperwork and confirmation of the procedure when admitting an animal to the practice.
• Comply with Health & Safety Regulations and local policy within the surgery.
• Adheres to and is able to locate all CCSL and local policies and procedures.
• Offer clear and concise advice about animal care, assistance and support to clients when caring for their animals.
• Assist the Veterinary Surgeon in laboratory diagnostic testing taking samples as necessary, storing and preserving in the appropriate manner and completing documentation.
• Determine and calculate the correct fluid therapy, preparing the patient appropriately ready for fluid therapy ensuring the patient is positioned and restrained accordingly, identifying any changes in condition, formulate an appropriate nursing care plan.
•Assist the Veterinary Surgeon during surgical procedures providing appropriate equipment and materials as appropriate, operation of surgical equipment as appropriate.
• Confirm the animal’s condition and the anaesthetic procedure to be administered performing pre-anaesthetic checks as appropriate and monitoring of the animal throughout the procedure.
• Calculating, dispensing and administration of medication to patients, keeping accurate records at all times
Skills and Knowledge:
Veterinary Nursing NVQ Level 3
Management of small groups of staff
Microsoft Word & Excel, Outlook
