Joao Alves MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
Joao graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2006 from Lisbon Tec. University in Portugal. After working 3 years in Small Animal Practice in Portugal, he decided to come to England in the pursuit of more experience. Joao was a veterinary locum all over the UK for 3 years, after which he decided to start a new and exciting project with Rebecca Robinson in 2012 – becoming partners at Companion Care Scarborough. He enjoys all aspects of both medical and surgical modalities and along with the strong team at Scarborough, Joao aims to provide care of the highest standard to their clients and patients.
Rebecca Robinson RVN MBVNA
Joint Venture Partner and Practice Manager
Rebecca graduated from College of Animal Welfare in 2006 as a Veterinary Nurse but has worked in Veterinary Practice in various roles in Yorkshire for over 10 years. Previous to that Rebecca has worked in boarding kennels from an early age, and once ran her own dog grooming business. Her special interest is behaviour and also training the student nurses at the practice. She is currently studying towards a Diploma in Animal Behaviour. Rebecca really enjoys meeting clients and their pets and helping to provide excellent health care for their animals. Rebecca has recently become a partner at the Scarborough practice and is very excited about her future career with the great team here.At home she has a dog, Spencer, a Working Cocker Spaniel, 2 cats Tom & Jerry, and 2 tortoises. Her hobbies include netball, dog training and gardening with her young son Freddie.
Sarah Webb RVN
Veterinary Nurse
Sarah graduated from the College of Animal Welfare (Leeds) in 2002, but she has been working in Veterinary Practice in Yorkshire since 1992. She has also lectured both Veterinary Nursing and Animal Management. Sarah’s special interest is nursing clinics as she finds them really rewarding.
In her spare time she helps to run her partner’s busy livestock farm, and her two children make sure she never has a quiet moment! Sarah has two working Border Collies (one is a puppy and being trained at the moment), and three mischievous working terriers. She also has an assortment of chickens and ferrets.
Steph Gill
Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Steph has worked at the practice since opening in December 2008 and is currently studying to become a registered Veterinary Nurse. Before working for Companion Care she studied for a BTEC national diploma in animal management and whilst doing this had a chance to work in a wildlife rehabilitation centre in South Africa. In her spare time she enjoys showing her pedigree Dexter cattle, horse riding, donkey driving and looking after various assortment of animals on her parents smallholding.
Victoria Smith
Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Vicki started working at Companion Care in August 2010 to complete her training to become a registered Veterinary Nurse. She goes to college one day a week and hopes to qualify in 2012. At home she enjoys working with her 3 horses; Summer, an ex-racehorse, Darcie her young Welsh D and Holly her retired Cleveland bay X. She also enjoys walking and grooming her 3 dogs; Mij a lurcher, Amber a collie X and Solo who recently won 1st prize at a local dog show!
Christine Williamson
Receptionist
Christine has worked at Companion Care since March 2011. After leaving school she moved with her horse to Lincolnshire to help set up a riding centre combined with a mentally handicapped nursing home. She has a horse called Sam who is now retired, 2 cats, Sam and Tabitha and 2 rabbits Olly and Oscar.
Her two teenage boys and her garden don’t leave her much spare time!
