Caty Swain Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon Companion Care Vets Poole

I qualified as a vet 18 years ago from my hometown of Melbourne, Australia. Since then, I've worked with Australian wildlife including echidnas, possums, wombats, and even the occasional and very lethal tiger snake! I left Australia 16 years ago and have travelled to all corners in the world, lived and worked in Hong Kong as a vet, worked all over the UK, and started working at Companion Care in Poole in 2000.

Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity of doing some charity work as a wildlife vet in South Africa and have learned, amongst other things, how to dart-gun rhino and other animals from open helicopters to sedate and then operate on them, as well as working with various other species including cheetah, elephants and giraffe and working towards boosting the endangered Black Rhino population, of which there are less than 4000 left in the world. Being able to do this amazing and rewarding work has been a huge privilege, and quite a contrast to companion animal practice in Dorset, which I also love! My UK family includes two beautiful and hugely loved British Short Hair cats Phoebe and Archie - Phoebe rules the roost at home and Archie is on a permanent diet!

Originally from Spain, Sara misses the Spanish weather, but she loves her roast dinners.

Rachel was born and married in Poole so decided it was about time she worked here! She lives in the New Forest with her husband, baby daughter and spoiled cat Sylvester.
Sylvester was a stray but now lives the high life, hopelessly chasing pigeons around the garden and surveying the lounge from his cat tower. Rachel has always had lurchers and has an interest in small animal medicine and ultrasonography.
