** MISSING DOG **

Six-month old Staffordshire bull terrier Lucky went missing from her home in Kingshill on the afternoon of Friday 11th February and her owners are appealing for help in finding her.

Lucky - ginger in colour, with a patch of white from the neck down between the front legs and a distinctive white patch on the back of her neck -  is a regular patient at Companion Care Vets in Swindon as she is quite a poorly girl and her owners contacted us as soon as she went missing. We have spoken to the local newspaper as well as all of our clients in an effort to help find Lucky.

Nurse Jo Mitchell said: “We are obviously really worried about Lucky’s welfare and if anyone knows anything about her whereabouts please could they contact us immediately.

“We have since had reports of another four dogs that have also gone missing from their homes in the town over the weekend and we would like all owners to be on their guard.”

This sad case also highlights the importance of micro-chipping dogs should the worst case scenario occur and Companion Care Vets urge anyone who hasn’t already done so, to micro-chip their pets immediately.

Jo says, “Fortunately Lucky has been micro-chipped, so if she was brought in as a new dog or picked up as a stray dog, she would be automatically scanned and because she is micro-chipped and we could contact the national micro-chipping database and it would bring up the owner’s details as that number is unique to her.

“There are no down sides to micro-chipping, the chip itself is the size of a large grain of rice and with the majority of animals, you cannot even feel it is there.

“I would urge anyone who hasn’t already micro-chipped their pets to do so.”

It is thought Lucky went missing from Kingshill between 3.05pm and 3.25pm.
