Pet MOT
We all forget to book ourselves in to the doctors for an annual health check and general MOT, we shouldn’t forget to do this for our best friend too!!
Imagine being a dog, a cat or any other pet and feeling a little bit off colour but not being able to communicate this with your human. Whilst more serious illnesses often make themselves known through obvious symptoms, underlying health issues can cause real discomfort and potential long-term damage to your pet.
That is why we encourage all of our clients to book their pets in for an “MOT” where one of our clinical team can chat through your pets’ welfare and any issues – just chatting to a professional can sometimes highlight problems that you simply hadn’t realised were there.
CASE STUDY
Jasper is a beautiful 5-year-old cat whose owners brought him to the vet for his annual vaccination and a nail clip. It was immediately clear that he had a rather serious weight problem – we talked at length with the owners (whose other cat was in tip top condition) and we found out that Jasper is an indoor cat who lived a very quiet life and loved his food! Poor Jasper was stuck in a vicious circle as he was too heavy to exercise properly as well.
Thanks to this annual visit we were able to set Jasper on a healthy path of weight loss, with diet and lifestyle change, and after nine months he was at an optimum weight and in really good shape for a healthy future.
Whilst we want to work in partnership with you to keep your pet healthy we appreciate that time and money are both factors in being able to “pop” to the vets on a regular basis – but we do have some ideas of how you can make good use of your time
Check up!
Most of Companion Care’s surgeries are located within Pets at Home stores; so next time you are stocking up on food or other supplies for your furry (or scaly!) friend, why not bring him or her with you.
Come to the surgery reception desk to say hi - we are always happy to pop your pet on the scales to do a weight reading for example which could highlight any weight loss or gain.
The vast majority of our surgeries open seven-days a week with extended opening hours which we hope makes it easier for you to get a convenient appointment with us.
You of course know your pet best of all – if you are at all concerned about his or her health don’t hesitate to contact your local surgery for an expert and friendly consultation.
