Your vet is Alemu Shewakena, MRCVS
Joint venture Partner & Veterinary Surgeon
Since graduating in 1996 I have worked all over the UK, mainly in Wales, West Yorkshire and the Glasgow area. I started my career in mixed practice treating cattle, sheep, horses, cats and dogs, before moving to a large veterinary referral hospital in Leeds. I have a passion for excellent animal care and customer service which I look forward to bringing to Companion Care Linwood. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and days out in the Scottish countryside!
Julian Beazley BVM&S MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Since qualifying from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2001, I practiced initially as a mixed animal vet in the London suburbs, then as a solely small animal vet when I moved to Glasgow in 2007. I have 2 rescued cats, Ocelot aged 12 and Erik aged 2 who rule my flat. I enjoys maintaining and driving my old VW Golfs, getting out into the Highlands for some walking and camping, socialising and travelling.
Kenneth Hall
Head Veterinary Nurse
I started veterinary nursing in 2003 at Glasgow University Veterinary School and then I moved down to Yorkshire to work in a small animal practice in Shipley. I qualified as a registered nurse from this practice and went on to be a deputy head nurse. I’m now married to a veterinary surgeon and between us have rescued 1 dog, 2 rabbits and 3 cats, one of whom is brain damaged but very happy. I’m sure the experience I’ve gained over the past number of years will help at the practice here at Linwood.
Carly Jennings
Nurse Assistant
I started working in the veterinary world in 2005 in Norfolk, discovering then that there would be no other career more suited to me than Veterinary Nursing. I moved to Scotland and have found a wonderful team at Companion Care. Here I intend to complete my Veterinary Nurse training. I live at home with my two beautiful ‘furries’; a 5yr old ginger girl called Phoebe and my handsome 2yr old black and white boy, Harry.
Claire Armstrong
Veterinary Care Assistant
I have been working with animals for almost 5 years now. I graduated university with a Bsc (Hons) Degree in Animal Health. I knew from a very early age that this was the career choice for me. I love working as part of the team here at Companion Care and intend to finish my nursing qualification later on this year.
Tracy Pollock
Receptionist
I have a great love for animals, so working for Companion Care at the weekends gives me a great opportunity to be around pets, and also be in an environment which helps take care of them. I enjoy spending time with my family and doing fun things like bowling, going to the bingo and reading True stories. I also have a Yorkshire terrier called Princess, two rabbits - Charlie and Nemo and 2 hamsters, Brooke and Gizmo. And hopefully in the near future, I will further my career in veterinary nursing.
Veronica Burns
Receptionist
I enjoy working with people and strongly believe in good customer care. I like how varied my role is and working with this wonderful team in Linwood makes each day a new and enjoyable working/learning experience.
My hobbies are my pets – long country walks with my dogs and my passion - CATS!! I love everything about them and I am very interested in cat psychology, oh and I like spending time with my husband too.
