Riaan Ekkerd MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
I qualified as a veterinarian in 1999 from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I worked in a mixed animal practice in South Africa for one year, then decided to come to England for more experience and to see Britain and Europe. I did small locum work all over Britain for 2 years, and then decided to start Companion Care Norwich with Robert Walker in 2002.
Over the past few years I have developed a special interest in small animal dermatology and orthopaedic surgery.
When not at work I enjoy doing endurance sports like triathlon, running and cycling. I also enjoy spending time at home with my family, and two cats Beanie and Ozzy.
Rob qualified from the University of Pretoria in 1999 where I had met Riaan while studying. He came across in 1999 and worked in a mixed animal practice in Bedford for two years before joining Riaan in partnership in Companion Care in Norwich. I enjoy all aspects of the work but do have an interest in cat medicine. Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, running and spending time with my family at home in UK and South Africa.
Alex qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Warmia and Nazury University in Poland in 2006. She is a small animal Vet with a passion for surgery. Alex has been working for Companion Care since October 2009 and when she's not working she takes care of her 1 year old son. In her spare time she likes to paint.
I graduated in 2004 from the Royal Veterinary College in London. I moved to Norwich and joined Companion Care in November 2007. I love medical cases and currently studying for a certifcate in small animal medicine.

Has an interest in accupuncture and cardiology, and she is currently on maternity leave.

Kiran has worked in Companion care for the last 5 years, before which she ran her own behaviour practice. Kiran graduated from the Animal Care college in 1995 and has had 14 years in practice. She specialises in Aggressive dogs and has 2 poodles, one black Labrador and one German Shepherd. Kiran enjoys pencil drawing animal portraits in any spare time

I have been working as a nurse at Companion Care for nearly 10 years (you dont get that long for life!) , and still know this is the career for me, everyone I work with are friends not just colleagues. Most importantly if it was not for working here I would not have my dog Jimmy and cat Katie, they make the job very worth while.
I have been working at Companion Care for just over 2 years, I enjoy all aspects of nursing and im lucky to work with such a good team. Since working here I have been able to give a stray cat called Bill and a hamster called Marilyn a home with my family.
I have been working for Companion Care since January 2006 and qualified in April 2009, my family of companion animals includes 3 dogs, 4 cats, 6 rabbits, 2 chinchillas and 6 hens. I am passionate about alll aspects of nursing.
I have been working as a nurse at this practice for 4 years and qualified 3 years ago. I enjoy every day and have a lovely team to work with, since working here I have fostered and successfully rehomed several animals and kept one of them my gorgeous lurcher Ben

I joined Companion Care in July 2003 after 14 years at NU. I really enjoy working at Companion Care, meeting clients and their pets. I have a cat called Harvey and 2 young sons.
I have worked for Companion Care for 4 years I previously worked in the NHS for 12 years. Since working here I have rescued 2 dogs.
I love my job at Companion Care and have been here for 2 years. I have 2 dogs called Angus and Hamish and a 5 year old daughter called Katie.
I joined Companion Care in 2005, I previously worked in another veterinary practice where I accquired my cat Billy. I really enjoy meeting all the clients and of course their animals.
I was lucky enough to get my job over 2 years ago I have no regrets, great colleagues, interesting and varied work- love it!
I joined Companion Care in March 2009. I enjoy working in a caring environment and love meeting the owners and animals. I have 3 children and 2 dogs.
