Your Vet is Gavin Collyer, MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner & Veterinary Surgeon
I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in South Africa in 1999 and shortly after moved to the UK. Having spent my first two years in mixed practice I chose to work solely with small animals. This is not my first involvement with Companion Care Vets, having previously been a partner in the successful Milton Keynes surgery from 2002 until 2007.
In 2007, my wife and I decided to move back to Worcestershire to be closer to family following the birth of our first child. Having spent some time working for various veterinary practices in the area and being a regional clinical manager for a national veterinary out-of -hours provider, the opportunity arose for me to re-join Companion Care when Pets at Home decided to open a new store in Kidderminster. I enjoy all aspect of small animal practice but have a particular interest in surgery. I also enjoy the interaction with clients and look forward to building long lasting relationships with them. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two young kids and three cats. When time allows I run, try to catch some fish and weather permitting, spend as much time outdoors as possible.
Francis Margaret Alink
Veterinary Surgeon
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2000 in The Netherlands and moved to the UK shortly afterwards. My first job was working for 9 months as a Veterinary Inspector during the Foot and Mouth outbreak. Since that period I have been working as a small animal vet in the Midlands followed by the North-East of Scotland where I was also doing a post-graduate qualification. I returned to the Midlands again in 2009 to live closer to my family and joined Companion Care Kidderminster in October 2011.
I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of small animal practice, both consulting and surgery, and I find it very rewarding to build up good relationships with our clients and their pets. I have a rescue cat called Oliver at home and have a soft spot for all our feline patients.
My big passion outside work is travelling, especially visiting ‘off the beaten track’ places and wildlife watching. I am always busy planning my next adventure! I am a keen hockey player and I generally enjoy being outdoors, especially walking and skiing.
Anna Southall-Hingley RVN
Head Veterinary Nurse
I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2002 after studying at Abbydale veterinary college in Gloucestershire. After working in a mixed (working with small and large animals) practice for a few years I decided to go travelling to Australia and New Zealand where I worked with horses and on a cattle station. On my return from my travels I worked at the PDSA charity for 3 years which I very much enjoyed.
I have a personal interest in anaesthesia and emergency and critical care nursing. I thoroughly enjoy my work and find it very rewarding. I have my own horse so my spare time is taken up riding and caring for her. I enjoy all aspects of my job – I especially have a soft spot for ginger cats as I have one of my own. Outside of work I enjoy salsa dancing and generally keeping myself fit.
Rhiannon Roe
Veterinary Nurse
I have worked within the animal care sector for 7 years, after finishing my HND in Animal Care at Worcester University in 2007, I decided Veterinary Nursing was the career for me. I started my Veterinary Nurse training in 2007 and qualified in 2009. When I’m not at work I have a variety of animals that keep me busy and I also enjoy partaking in archery, cricket and the gym.
Carole Ansell
Veterinary Nurse
I began my career in Veterinary Nursing just over four years ago achieving my certificate in Animal Nursing before going on to study for a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.
I enjoy all aspects of my job; however I find surgical nursing and rehabilitation of great interest.
In my spare time I love to run and I have two very lively Pointers who regularly take part in Canicross events with me. I also have a huge passion for the mountains so when I can that’s where I spend my spare time!
Nicci Baggott
Vet Receptionist
Having spent most of my working career in Finance it is quite a change (a pleasant one) to be working in a Veterinary Practice. I have recently had my second child and decided I needed a new challenge. I am enjoying this new career and meeting all the animals that visit the practice, however I have been warned by my husband “not to bring any home with me” as we have enough to deal with having two young boys!
Helen Jackson
Vet Receptionist
I enjoy being part of such a friendly team and working on reception gives me some variety from my role as Mum to two small children. At home we have an ageing rescue Collie X, Daisy who enjoys long walks in the countryside and chasing squirrels. My other passion besides animals is baking - much to the delight of my colleagues who regularly get to sample my creations
Tanya Borrillo
Vet Receptionist
I have spent most of my working life working for my parents in their village shop. When they retired I decided it was time to try something different, so working for a veterinary practice is definitely a change for me but a good one and I am looking forward to the challenge. When I am not working I love to spend time with my family and friends and I also enjoy walking and skiing.
Claire Ellis
Vet Receptionist
I joined the team in August 2011. Previously I worked in banking until I left to become a full time mum 6 years ago. I have 2 small children who keep me extremely busy out of work. I thoroughly enjoy my new role and find it very rewarding meeting new customers and animals alike.
