Our Team
Your Vet is Fred McKenzie, MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner & Veterinary Surgeon
I am Frederick McKenzie otherwise known as Fred, your veterinary surgeon and Joint Venture Partner of the Companion Care Farnborough vet surgery.
I graduated from Murdoch University Western Australia in 1982, and from 1987 to 2003 I ran my own small animal veterinary practice in Western Australia. After 15 years of running a successful practice I decided it was time to move back to this side of the world to renew and maintain links with my family and friends. Since arriving in the UK in 2003 I have worked fulltime and as a locum in small animal practices throughout the UK.
I am thrilled to be part of Companion Care and my interests are all aspects of general veterinary practice, internal medicine and cardiology. I consider the human-animal bond an essential aspect of society and my aim is to enhance the quality of this relationship by facilitating and encouraging responsible pet ownership.
My interests outside of work are cooking, rose gardening, natural history, music, theatre and the arts, cycling and current affairs. My partner and I have been living in Surrey since 2007 where we share our house with a beautiful 4 year old black chow called I-ming.
I am very excited to be opening my new vet surgery in Farnborough Pets at Home, and I look forward to meeting you and your pet in the not too distant future.

Catherine Tickner
Veterinary Care Assistant
After owning a wide range of pets whilst growing up I gained a huge interest in animals, as a result I went to college to study a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management. As part of the course I attended various work placements within the animal sector including a pet shop, a reptile and animal rescue centre, an equine stable and a dog groomers. After spending two weeks at the reptile and animal centre called Noah's Ark I began to work as a volunteer once a week whilst still at college. I completed the course in 2010, and have been looking for animal related jobs since. Now working in a veterinary surgery I would like to further my studies within animal care and fulfil my dream of becoming a veterinary nurse! At home I have a Yorkshire Terrier called Charlie and a Lion Head Bunny called Stripe. Out of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and living life to the full!

Vet Receptionist
This is my first job within the veterinary industry. Originally I trained as a beauty therapist and worked within hotel spa’s. I decided to change my career and this is just what I was hoping for. I enjoy customer interaction and being able to talk to clients and their pets. I recently completed my P.I.A module and can now say I am a PetPlan advisor. I would also like to complete a course in feline behaviour as I adore cats. I live with my partner and my beautiful ginger cat Ralph, we also have tropical fish and shall be adding 2 new bunnies to our family very soon.
