Companion Care Exeter launches Save£Sound
The scheme, called Save £ Sound, will see prices of drugs for a whole range of conditions, cut by as much as a third at Companion Care in Exeter, providing their pet owning clients with huge potential savings.
The massive 30% cut in prices is aimed at helping pets live longer, healthier and happy lives by ensuring pets with long-term health problems stay on the medicines prescribed by their vet.
Chris Eiermann at Companion Care Exeter, said the company-wide decision followed concern over the significant drop-off in treatment after veterinary diagnosis.
“We simply do not want the cost of veterinary medicines to be a factor that determines whether or not a pet with a perfectly treatable long term health problem stays on their prescribed treatment regime. Sadly, we do see significant drop-off rates on long term prescriptions following initial diagnosis and we believe that there is a significant “hidden” animal welfare issue here that needs to be tackled. Cutting the cost of long term prescription medication in this way is a major step towards keeping pets in our area healthier for longer.”
Therapeutic areas set to be included in the programme of price cuts include medication for diseases such as arthritis, cardiac and renal problems, hormonal and skin conditions.
Save & Sound is being launched at Companion Care veterinary practices nationwide in February 2010.
Pet owners can enquire about prescriptions for long term health conditions at their local Exeter surgery.
