Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
I grew up in Zimbabwe, and I trained as a veterinary surgeon at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and spent many years working in private practice mainly with small animals and, whenever possible, treating any wildlife brought into my surgery. Six years ago I left Africa to become a partner with Companion Care, and I am delighted to find myself leading a very caring and enthusiastic team at our surgery in Ely. I am fortunate to be a member of an extremely privileged profession whose job it is to care for our companion animals – made all the more enjoyable by the people, pets and the beauty of the area in which we live. Outside of work, I enjoy wildlife, spending time in wilderness areas, fishing and golf.

I have worked with companion animals since becoming a member of the Royal College in 2002. I love the challenge and variety of veterinary medicine - one day I may be splinting a budgie's leg and the next looking down a Great Dane's ear.
I feel every day is different, and one of the most rewarding aspects of being a vet is developing a bond with the pets I treat and their owners.
I live in Ely with my husband and two small boys, and spend a lot of time exploring castles and National Trust properties. In my free time I like to catch up with friends and family.
Dani Tuffey
Veterinary Nurse
I am a veterinary nurse and have been qualified for ten years. I worked at three veterinary practices in West London before moving to Ely and working with Companion Care. I started training at a small practice, moving to a busy practice before helping to set up a practice from scratch and setting up a variety of nurse clinics. During this time I worked my way up to Head Nurse. In my spare time I enjoy being out and about with my dog Mouse (who you may see sitting behind the desk at the surgery), socializing and shopping.
Kathryn Clark
Student Veterinary Nurse
Kat has been working with animals now for 14 years in various different occupations. She has qualifications including the BTEC First and National Diploma in Animal Care and NVQ level 2 in Animal Care. At home she has her own cat called Mr. Darcy and a Labrador called Scully. Kat also takes home some of the wildlife we are treating to rehabilitate them and prepare them for release. Out of work she enjoys motorcycling, socializing and watching cricket and Formula One. She enjoys working in our close and friendly team here in Ely.
Jacquie Green
Veterinary Nurse Assistant
Jacquie is new to the veterinary industry after 16 years in the telecommunications industry. After being made redundant she decided to follow her dreams and seek a complete change in a career with animals. Animal welfare has always been her passion and her goal is to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse. Jacquie lives with her 5 year old daughter, Isabella and our three cats, Storm, Marmalade and Ruby Scooby.
Annika Hakansson
Vet Receptionist
Annika works at Cathedral Veterinary Surgery as the part-time receptionist and so enjoys meeting the clients who visit the surgery when she works on Saturdays and Sundays. She moved to England from Sweden sixteen years ago and lives with her husband and daughter, Elly in one of the villages near Ely.
She is particularly fond of rabbits and currently shares her home with Mala and Snowdon – both rescue rabbits.
