JF Nell BVSc MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
Originally from South Africa I qualified from Onderstepoort, Pretoria in 2001. My name is Johannes Frederick but I am known to most as ‘JF’. When I came to the UK I worked in Newark in a mixed animal practice. I then moved to focus on small animals at a practice in Sudbury Suffolk. In 2006 I was thrilled to get the opportunity to partner in Colchester Companion Care Vet Surgery. My team has gone from strength to strength, welcoming new clients and their pets. At home I have a 7 year old cat called Katie and also Twiet - a 4 year old African Gray Parrot - who says: ‘Red Bull Gives You Wings!’ I spend my spare time playing cricket, squash and golf, or on my allotment.

In 12 years working with animals Laura has had a lot of interesting experiences. Her first job at a mixed practice in Devon included chasing cows in the dark at 4am so they could perform a caesarean. Laura's pets are Tedy an 8 year old handsome collie cross, Marvin a 4 year old gorgeous ginger and white cat, Daisy a naughty rabbit and Mr Chin a cheeky chinchilla! In her free time she likes to dance, socialise and spend money!!
Mel Williams RVN
Veterinary Nurse
Mel qualified recently (2009) from the College of Animal Welfare, Huntingdon. She has 4 years experience, mainly gained at a Sudbury vet surgery, and 10 pets at home – 9 bunnies and one naughty torti cat called Snuffles. In her free time Mel likes running, swimming and snowboarding (badly!).
Kate Shurlock
Student Nurse
Kate has a foundation degree in animal science from Otley college and is now training to be an RVN. Outside of work she is kept on her toes by FOUR Staffordshire bull terriers: Dexter, Tessa, Zola (who can smile on demand) and Kai. If you're in the vet surgery and hear bad singing then it's likely to be 'our Kate'.
