our team
Gideon Smit BVSc MRVS
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
After qualifying I was conscripted into the South African Defence Force. During this period of National Service I lectured at a university, training Animal Health Officers (Stock Inspectors) I came to England in 1991 and worked in Storrington for 4.5 years, Bognor Regis for 12 years and joined Companion Care in Rustington as a Joint Venture Partner in 2008. Together with my colleague Gerrie Kemp we opened Companion Care Chichester surgery in December 2008. In July 2009 I became the partner in charge of the Chichester branch.
I see myself very much as an animal GP, equally at home with cats, dogs and small furries. In my spare time I enjoy Computers, Photography, Traveling and Music.
Patricia Lara Cuadra
Veterinary Surgeon
We are delighted to introduce Patricia, who joined the team in May 2012.
Patri qualified at Cordoba University in 2005 and started working in the South of Spain, learning how to be a GP vet and soft tissue surgeon. After that she gained more experience at a very busy referral practice in Madrid which specialised in orthopaedic surgery.
Her special interests include ophthalmology (she did an intensive post-graduate study at the University of Barcelona), ultrasound (loving the brand new ultrasound machine at Companion Care Chichester) and all types of surgery.
In her spare time Patri loves travelling, music, dancing, and doing crazy and risky sports if she has the chance.
Patri can’t have any pets at the moment, so that’s why she enjoys every second with her patients and gets plenty of cuddles from Teddy (Helen’s Labrador).
