Duncan Green BVSc MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
Since qualifying in 1999 I have been doing a very wide variety of work with a very wide variety of animals. I have had the privilege of working on anything from Zebra finches to elephants with some really cool dairy cows in between… Since coming to Canterbury Companion Care my focus has been on small animals only and I am currently working towards a specialist surgical certificate through the RCVS. I enjoy fishing, rugby and anything outdoors in the famous Kent countryside! Daddy of one and soon to be two!
Kate Bament
Veterinary Surgeon
Newly qualified in 2009 Kate has developed a special interest in behavioural medicine and small animals. Her hobbies are far-ranging and it’s a wonder she had time to study! Circus skills, guitar, juggling, poi and diabolo. Kate co-founded the RVC Circus Skills Society and is currently president of this society. She also abseils and enjoys aerial sliding.
Kerry Higgins RVN A
Head Vet Nurse
Kerry has been working with animals for over 10 years and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003. She has worked exclusively in small animal practice, in many referral centres including orthopaedic, cardio thoracic and soft tissue work. She particularly enjoys critical care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and Kerry also spends much time training student nurses. She has a number of pets: SAS (Border Collie), Taliska (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), Santa (Devon Rex) and Trevor the gerbil. Her hobbies are varied too: netball, entertaining friends and family, rugby (previously playing but now just watching!), caving and agility with my dog (the spaniel…not the collie!)
Shelly Thorne RVN D32/33
Veterinary Nurse
Shelly qualified in 1995 and has worked at several practices including an ophthalmology, cardio thoracic and internal medicine referral hospital. She has assisted with treatment of various zoo animals including gorillas and tigers. Now focusing on small animal health care Shelly has a special interest in nutrition and feline behaviour. In her spare time Shelly likes to cycle, walk, play netball and take part in agility classes with her Springer Spaniel, Freddie. She also has cats called Holly and Dennis, and 2 guinea pigs called Daisy and Pepper.
