The Partners

Dörte, Jill and Victoria have jointly owned the Bolton vet surgery since 2002. With over 45 years’ veterinary healthcare experience (just between the three of them!) your pets are in safe hands!

Your vet is Dörte Böhle, Dr.med.vet. MRCVS
Joint Venture Partner & Veterinary surgeon

Vet Doerte Bohle Dr.med.vet MRCVS JVP Bolton Horwich
I graduated from Hanover Vet School in 1992 – over 17 years ago! I moved to the UK in 1997 where I initially worked here at Horwich as a vet. In 2002 I was delighted to become a partner at Bolton Companion Care, alongside Victoria and Jill.

We look after all kinds of small animals, and my special areas of interest are dermatology and internal medicine.  At home I enjoy the company of my cat Tommy and in my spare time I like to read, travel or go horse riding.

Victoria Birchall
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Nurse

Vet Nurse Victoria Birchall JVP Bolton Horwich

Victoria qualified as a veterinary nurse in January 2000. After joining Companion Care in February 2000 she became a Joint Venture Partner in 2002. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing and loves all animals, but ultimately sees herself as a cat person. Victoria has a particular interest in small animal behaviour and weight management. She lives in Wigan with her 4 cats and 2 Staffordshire bull terriers, Daisy & Dan. In her spare time Victoria enjoys card making and amateur dramatics.

Jill Baxter
Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Nurse

Jill has a keen interest in preventative health care and enjoys working in the operating theatre. Outside of work Jill lives with her husband and two rescue cats, and she spends her time looking after her horse and competing in dressage competitions.

Nancy Parkinson MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Vet Surgeon Nancy Parkinson, Bolton

Nancy qualified as a Vet in 2001 from the Royal Veterinary College in London, though she’s originally from Manchester.  Returning near to her home town, Nancy has worked at Companion Care Bolton since May 2007. She is interested in all aspects of small animal medicine. She lives near the peak district with husband and cat Fuzzy (the cat came first!) and enjoys keeping fit with walking and karate.

Sheena Brimelow
Veterinary Surgeon

Sheena Brimelow Veterinary Surgeon Companion Care Vets Bolton
Sheena graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1992 and worked in small animal practice in the Midlands and Australia before returning to her Lancashire roots in March 2010, to take up a position at Companion Care (Bolton) Ltd.
Sheena enjoys the challenge and variety of veterinary work, especially surgery, and is particularly interested in ophthalmology and small animal behaviour.
She lives with her husband and two young children, who take up most of her free time. She also enjoys hill walking, theatre and travel.

Emma Kendall
Veterinary Nurse

Emma qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2004 and has been here since May 2006. Emma loves her job and has a particular interest in small animal nutrition and is currently working on the “Hills Veterinary Nutrition Advisor” course. Outside of work, she has had many pets over the years including a cat, hamsters and rabbits.  Emma is also a keen follower of football and is a season ticket holder (mentioning no names!).

Helen Walmsley
Veterinary Nurse

Helen Walmsley Veterinary Nurse Companion Care Vets Bolton
Helen qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1999. She joined Companion Care as a part-time VN in September 2010. She has always wanted to work with animals since being a child. Helen enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, especially nurse clinics and assisting in the operating theatre. Helen has just one pet, a cat, who was hand reared from just one week of age. He is rather a handful.
She lives near Chorley with her partner and baby girl, who keeps her very busy when not at work.
Hazel Bumby
Receptionist
Hazel Bumby Vet receptionist Bolton Horwich

Hazel has worked at Bolton Companion Care as a weekend receptionist since May 2001, and her love of people and animals makes it the perfect environment. Hazel would eventually like to train as a veterinary nurse. In her spare time she enjoys singing, acting, dancing and treading the boards with many amateur dramatic societies. She also enjoys performing with her friends in a local singing group ‘Just the Four of Us’.

Susan Wooff
Receptionist

Susan Wooff Receptionist Companion Care Vets Bolton

Susan started work for Companion Care as a part time receptionist in October 2010. She enjoys every part of her job, especially getting to give lots of cuddles to the puppies and kittens. Previously she worked as a secretary but from her surname, it would appear that she was always destined to do this job!
She lives locally and when not at work spends a lot of time looking after her retired Dales Pony, who she has owned for 21 years, and helping on her friend’s farm.
She has owned dogs, cats and most other small animals in the past but currently has just 2 cats.

Diane Reeves
Receptionist

Diane joined the very friendly team at Companion Care Vets in July 2010, having been a client of the surgery since 2008. She really enjoys the opportunity to meet new people and their lovely Pets.
Diane, herself, has two rescue greyhounds, who, on occasion allow her to accompany them on walks.
